Eyepeace was created by two leading consultant ophthalmologists, Johnny Moore MA FRCOphth, PhD and Anant Sharma MA FRCOphth. Their aim being to address the issues of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), dry eyes, blepharitis and chalazion. They have conducted extensive research in these areas and this combination of experience and knowledge has led to the development of the unique Eyepeace.
The Eyepeace is intuitive and simple to use with many finding it more effective and convenient than using their finger. Cranfield design engineers have ensured it provides reproducible vertical eyelid massage and is ergonomically designed for comfort whilst being small enough to be portable.
We recommend massaging between 5-10 times per session with the Eyepeace. It is more effective after the eyelids have been heated with an Eye Bag®. Any excess overhanging skin should be gently lifted out of the way before massaging.
Clear, simple instructions are provided in the form of leaflets and animation.
Professors Moore and Sharma have used the instrument on patients and have been able to demonstrate a positive milking of the meibomian glands without inducing discomfort. They also demonstrated obvious increased oil on the surface of the tear film after use.
The Eyepeace is a CE marked class 1 medical device and is made from medical grade implantable silicone which is skin safe. The Eyepeace also has a specialist coating to enhance smoothness giving it a gliding motion across the skin. It provides clean, daily, easy to use correct and effective method of massaging the eyelids for patients with meibomian gland disease, making them less symptomatic.
