Why choose NATorigin or Eye Care Cosmetics
The background
Patrice and Danielle Soyer, both graduates in Pharmacy from the University of Paris, were specialists in the development and production of products for contact lenses when they founded the Contapharm Laboratories in 1981. Backed by their savoir-faire and in collaboration with eye specialists and opticians, they identified a problem specific to women who wear contact lenses:
“Intolerance, in and around the eye, to traditional skincare and makeup products (including hypoallergenic ones)”
The solution
By combining in-depth studies of eye and skin physiology with knowledge gleaned from the material used to make contact lenses, they came up with the concept of bio-inertia formulations. Initially applied to makeup products for contact lens wearers, the concept has progressively spread to all skincare and makeup products for those with sensitive eyes and skin.
Today, Eye Care Cosmetics and NATorigin are distributed in over 35 countries worldwide and are recognised by healthcare professionals (dermatologists, allergy-specialists, ophthalmologists) and women who want to be sure of their beauty, to be one of the leading reference brands in high tolerance/hypoallergenic cosmetics.
What is the difference between NATorigin and Eye care Cosmetics?
NATorigin was introduced in response to requests for a more naturally-sourced range of cosmetics and skincare. The ingredients are a minimum of 97% natural (80% nail enamel)and organic where possible.
Both ranges are cruelty-free, avoid known irritants and are finely milled into less irritating spherical particles. In addition NATorigin offers vegetarian and vegan options.
The bio-inertia of formulations
The key is the bio-inertia of the formulations, an original concept from the Contapharm Laboratories, which aims to the respect the users of the product and the environment. This is achieved by:
- Ultramicronisation of all the solid particles down to less than 15µm (60% <5µm) because the cells of the cornea measure 8-18µm
- Exclusive use of natural pigments which are insoluble in water
- Maintenance of isotonicity for the aqueous products or containing water (300 mOsm)
- Use of non-ionic surface-active agents
- Maintenance of the ocular pH (7.2-7.3) or of the cutaneous pH (5.5)
- Guarantee the absence of the following substances: nickel, SLS, cobalt, heavy metals, organic dyes, carmine, formol, resin formaldehyde, toluene, rosin, acetone, lanolin, AHA, retinol & perfume with allergens in.
