Not as good as I hoped for Blephasteam eyelid war in mask

I suffer from dry sensitive eyes and my late dad had the original Blephasteam eye goggles with the rings you put in each use and he found it extremely beneficial for his dry eyes. This current version is a disappointment to me personally as the price is very high and I can’t see much, if any, improvement.

For the price I don't think it's worth it

It does heat up, but every time you use it you have to charge it, after use you have to charge it again, your actually charhing the device longer than actually using it, if it held charge then it would be so much easier and practical to use. If you haven't used it for a few days it takes even longer to charge. I thought it was a device that you charge it full and can use spontaneously atleast a couple of times before there no life in. I think if you live a busy lifestyle it's not really ideal, prefer to grab a eye mask bag chuck it in the microwave and get the heat compress going if I'm being honest. For the price not really worth it.

    Hello Isaac
We will pass your comments on to the manufacturer, there is bit of forward planning involved with charging and pre-heating before every use.
They have suggested, if you use it regularly, to leave it on charge so it is ready for use.
I hope this information is useful.

    Soothing and Hygienic

I had high hopes for this Blephasteam mask due to the expensive price tag. I have tried just about everything on the market for dry eyes and blepharitis. It's certainly very soothing and more hygienic than a normal heating eye mask but after a few weeks of using i haven't noticed a dramatic change yet. I use it twice a day for 10 minutes and don't feel that it gets quite hot enough for much eye oil to be expressed but maybe it's just me. It's easy to use and good that you can walk around when it's on. I'm hoping things will improve over time.

    Seems to help

So the machine takes a bit of set up but once it’s in situ it’s quite easy to operate. Quite why it’s so expensive I don’t know as it doesn’t seem to be employing rocket science but it’s easier than warm compresses and you can see whilst you’re using it.

What Price for Effective Eye Care?

In my opinion, this product is very, very good. It's also, by comparison with the traditional microwaveable hot-mask, very, very expensive.

That said, again in my opinion, it's worth the money if struggling with sore eyes and other methods because it does the job effectively, gently releasing oils and relieving irritation both. Once familiar with it, I found it easy to use. I keep it on a counter-top, covered with a clean cloth and ready-to-go. The principle is that the mask heats up water held in the insert to gently steam and bathe irritated eyelids along with their often defective meibomian glands and ducts at precisely the temperature recommended by eye specialists. The steam cleans the lids and so encourages any solidified oils trapped in the ducts within the eyelid rims to soften and begin to flow again. That's the theory.

My opinion on limitations and practicalities: 1. If the meibomian glands/ducts are atrophied and/or blocked owing to fibrosis or scarring, no amount of steam or heat will free them up to get the oils flowing again. Any chance of re-starting that process means probing. Only an ophthalmic specialist can assess and advise about gland dysfunction and probing. 2. I clean my eyelids thoroughly before using the mask. I use 'Eye Doctor' wipes before masking and gently wash my eye lids with 'Zocular' every morning too. 3. I only use bottled water in the tray to saturate the mask insert from which the steam is generated by the mask. 4. I found…
