RetiCap DR
RetiCap DR capsules are designed to help supplement your diet to support the eyes of diabetics and their need for specific micronutrients which, collectively, carry out a number of functions:
- Thiamine (vitamin B1) and Riboflavin (vitamin B2) contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
- Thiamine (vitamin B1) also contributes to the normal functioning of the heart and normal psychological function.
- Riboflavin (vitamin B2) contributes to the maintenance of normal vision. In addition, this vitamin contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to the maintenance of normal red blood cells as well as the maintenance of normal skin and mucous membranes.
- Alpha-lipoic acid is an important component (coenzyme) for energy production in the mitochondria of human cells.
- Rutin is a flavonoid – a secondary phytochemical which is produced by many plants to protect against UV rays.
The normal metabolic process of any tissue produces unstable free radicals. If produced in excess, in a way that overwhelms the body’s ability to regulate them, oxidative stress ensues. Certain micronutrients such as vitamin C, zinc and riboflavin (vitamin B2) can help protect against this. Oxidative stress is exacerbated in the presence of blue light (a component of visible light [sunlight]). The eyes, along with our skin, are the only organs that are exposed to sunlight and its high-energy rays.
