    Warning - The bottle has changed

    I recently bought a replacement bottle and was so disappointed to see that the dispensing bottle has changed. The easy to use, pump action bottle, quickly dispensing just the right amount has changed to a horrible, almost unusable, squeeze bottle with the smallest opening imaginable. It restricts the fluid flow to almost zero, so you squeeze harder and can’t tell if it’s coming out or how much. How this got approved by R&D at Ursapharm as a user friendly improvement I have no idea, because believe me, it’s not?

    Checking to see if there were alternatives, it would appear that almost all the Hypromellose producers have changed over to this simply awful bottle and those that haven’t, are all sold out! I wonder why!!!

    So I shall no longer buy TearLac and shall look elsewhere. Please pass on these comments as I can already see other users are complaining for exactly the same reason too.

    We will of course pass your feedback on. It is always difficult when packaging changes. As you say a lot of products come in this type of bottle and people can work with them, but when you are used to quite a different style it takes a little adjustment .

    Hello Ian
    Thank you for your review.
    Regarding the new ophthalmic squeeze dispensers (OSD)
    The new style Novelia and Aptar dropper bottles are being adopted by eye drop manufacturers to improve drop size accuracy and reduce microbial contamination.

    Aptar have produced a 1 min 30s video;

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAYcfDf3Q4E

    Here is a 3 minute Novelia video that I found very helpful and informative;

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0bDaU5EPDs

    It explains why they are doing this, a cross-section of what’s going on inside the bottle and a lady demonstrating how she inserts the drops.
    Otherwise (as you may already be aware of the above), it may be that an eye spray or click drop bottle such as in the Hycosan range could be a suitable alternative.

    Change of container

    I won’t be ordering this again unfortunately as I really like the product. The change in dispenser is unfortunate, the original dispensed the amount needed, the new container takes such a long time for the dropper to work and then it floods your face and so much is wasted. The reason I started to use tearlac originally was because of the dispenser, every other type of hypromelose I had tried flooded your face. Not sure what I will use now asI use at least one container a week.

    Thank you for leaving a review for Tear-Lac.
    The change in dispenser takes a bit longer to send the drop to the tip to improve sterility.

    Here is a video showing what is happening inside the tip of the bottle;

    These are the other options we have available, we are always happy to give advice on eye drops.
