Viscotears Tri Action eye drops contain an oily microemulsion for the treatment and prevention of signs and symptoms of moderate or severe dry eye, especially in conjunction with meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).

Tear film breakdown can lead to excessive evaporation of the tear film which, in turn, leads to hyper osmolarity of the tear film (where the tear film becomes too salty). Tear film instability and hyper osmolarity can induce inflammation and damage to the surface of the eye.

Viscotears Tri Action eye drops have been designed to counteract all major factors that contribute to dry eye.

  • Sodium hyaluronate, trehalose and glycerol bind water in the tear film and bring tear film osmolarity to a safe level allowing the ocular surface to recover from damage.
  • Sacha inchi seed oil strengthens the tear film's lipid layer to prevent further evaporation and hyper osmolarity.
  • The combination of oil and high-molecular-weight sodium hyaluronate helps retain and stabilise key layers of the tear film.
  • Sodium hyaluronate, trehalose and natural antioxidants of sacha inchi seed oil help the cells in the surface of the eye recover from inflammatory damage.

Regular use relieves dry eye symptoms such as itching, burning and foreign body sensation caused by environmental factors such as dry air, wind, smoke, air pollution, excessive light, visual display work, ocular surgery or contact lens use.

The special Ophthalmic Squeeze Dispenser (OSD) bottle ensures the contents remain free from contaminants without the need for preservatives. This means the product can be used for up to 6 months after first opening, potentially reducing waste.

In addition, the lack of preservatives means contact lens wearers can use either product without removing their lenses.

    Really hard to apply

The bottle has one huge issue. As you use up the drops, the bottle becomes more and more sucked in, to the point that it becomes very hard to squeeze further in order to extract drops. I had to dispose of the bottle at about half the capacity because it was almost impossible to get out any more drops.

    Hello Victor

Thank you for reviewing Viscotears Tri-Action.
I can see that your most recent order only included other drops, hopefully these are working better for you.

I thought I would share a video about the new style eye drop bottles.

Holding the bottle between your thumb and forefinger knuckle can also help.
If you would like any advice, we are happy to help. As you are finding, there can be a bit of trial and error finding the best drop for your needs.

    Tri action eye drops

These sting when first used. After a few minutes the stinging stops and the drops last longer than anything else I have used. I will buy again.

    Difficult to Administer !

These drops are very difficult to use .

The bottle is hard to squeeze and usually about 3-4 drops come out at once .

This doesn’t make them cost effective for the user!

    Hello Susan
    Thank you for your review.

This is due to the introduction of ophthalmic squeeze dispensers (OSD).
The new style Aptar dropper bottles are being adopted by eye drop manufacturers to improve drop size accuracy and reduce microbial contamination.

    To show how this works and why there can be delay, Aptar have produced a 1 min 30s video;

    Eyedrops for dry eyes

I find these drops very helpful in lubricating the eyes. BUT I do not like the packaging. Squeezing the bottle is virtually impossible to judge how much fluid is being discharged or when the bottle is empty. It takes time to do it which is embarrassing when needing to apply drops in public.

I have for years used HyLo forte. This bottle with mechanism to deliver one drop quickly is MUCH better.

    Hello Alison

Thank you for leaving this helpful feedback, it seems the click drop bottles work best for you.

Regarding Viscotears, the special Ophthalmic Squeeze Dispenser (OSD) bottle ensures the contents remain free from contaminants without the need for preservatives and standardise the drop size.

Here is a 1 min 30s video showing what's happening inside the bottle and why it takes longer.

    Good drops for dry eyes

I suffer with really dry eyes and am trying out several different products to try to find something which brings relief. So far these drops are helping relieve the symptoms quite well most days. They are easy to apply and my eyes start to feel the benefit after about 15 mins. So far, so good.
