VitroCap N (90s)
VitroCap N contains micronutrients for the management of changes of the vitreous body in the eyes, such as floaters.
The vitreous body is the jelly-like fluid inside the eye. The degeneration of the vitreous body can lead to eye floaters (also known as 'mouches volantes' from the French meaning flying flies) which are perceptible spots, specks or thread-like structures in the field of vision. Eye floaters are caused by collagen fibres clumping together in the vitreous body of the eye and casting shadows on the retina.
Vitreous bodies with floaters have lower levels of protective micronutrients. By supplementing them, it may be possible to restore the vitreous’ natural defense system, prevent further collagen aggregation, and reduce floaters over time.
The composition of VitroCap N is based on the increased need for specific nutrients in people with degeneration of the vitreous body who have eye floaters. VitroCap N capsules contain specially prepared phytonutrients from grape seeds and citrus fruit as well as vitamin C and the amino acid L-lysine. These nutrients are naturally involved in the maintenance and protection of collagen fibres and hyaluronic acid in the body and also in the eye.
Please note: If you notice floaters it is vital to check with your eye care professional first, to check that they are caused by natural degeneration rather than anything more serious that requires medical attention.
Why Can Supplements Be an Effective Treatment for Eye Floaters?
Eye floaters occur due to vitreous degeneration, a process where collagen fibers clump together and cast shadows on the retina. These shadows appear as small, drifting shapes—often described as dark threads or spots that move across your field of vision.
To understand how supplements can help, it’s essential to look at the healthy vitreous body before degeneration occurs. The vitreous body consists of a delicate network of parallel collagen fibers, ensuring clear light transmission. Alongside 98% water, it contains essential micronutrients, including:
- Vitamin C
- Zinc
- L-Lysine
Additionally, researchers have discovered dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) in the human vitreous. As a potent antioxidant derived from proanthocyanidins, DOPAC plays a crucial role in protecting the eye from oxidative stress. Scientific studies indicate that:
- Proanthocyanidins help prevent protein glycation, a process that weakens collagen integrity.
- Hesperidin fights oxidative damage and reduces inflammation by blocking the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs)—which can otherwise lead to collagen clumping.
Degenerated vitreous bodies with floaters have lower levels of these protective compounds. By supplementing these key nutrients, it may be possible to restore the vitreous’ natural defense system, prevent further collagen aggregation, and reduce floaters over time.
Is There Scientific Evidence for This Approach?
Yes! The Floater Intervention Study (FLIES) was the first randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the effect of targeted nutritional supplementation on eye floaters. Study details:
- 61 patients aged 18–79 years participated.
- After six months of supplementation with VitroCap N, 77% of patients reported a reduction in vitreous opacities.
This research highlights how targeted nutrients can improve vitreous health and reduce floaters over time.

Have been taking VitrocapN for two years now on the advice of my optometrist on the basis that the supplements could help reduce the appearance of floaters. I really can’t say if the supplements have helped but the floaters haven’t got worse.
